About rare-and-clear
rare-and-clear explains the genetics of rare diseases in plain language, one gene at a time. It is written for guardians, caregivers, and patients who are reading a test report and want to understand what a gene does and what its linked conditions mean.
Every plain-language passage is quoted word for word from a reviewed public source and attributed, so you can check it yourself. The site does not rewrite or summarize gene detail. Where no reviewed source exists for a gene, the page says so and links out to trusted resources instead of publishing a substitute.
A collapsed reference tier on each gene page lists the names and numbers a lab may report — the gene's location, its reference transcript, protein domains, and a ClinVar search link. You can ignore it if you only want the plain-language explanation.
The site is built from committed snapshots of public sources and is entirely static. It collects no personal data and uses no tracking.
